Lotus Flower Scarf

£35.00

Lotus flower scarf 100% silk from The British Museum. For the Egyptians the blue lotus flower became a symbol of the sun and the resurgence of life.

Description

The Lotus Flower Scarf is 100% Silk. For the Egyptians the blue lotus flower became a symbol of the sun and the resurgence of life, the plant was also used for medicinal purposes creating a feeling of well-being, euphoria and ecstasy. Blue lotus motifs occur abundantly on wall-paintings and they are frequent motifs on jewellery, glazed bowls and domestic objects. The motifs in this lotus flower scarf design have been taken directly from Egyptian designs in the conventionalised form, and the colours have been inspired by the blue lotus flower itself.
